Islamic FAQs
Can I help or volunteer with the society?
Absolutely. We’re always happy to welcome volunteers to help with events, fundraising, or behind-the-scenes work. It’s a great way to get involved and meet new people.
Is halal food available on campus?
Yes. The chicken served in the canteen is halal as long as it is not fried. Fried items (including chips) are not halal, as they are cooked in shared fryers.
Where can I pray on campus?
There is a multi-faith prayer room located beside the SU shop. Prayer mats and prayer clothes are available in the cupboard on the right at the end of the room. Qurans are also available in both Arabic and English. We kindly ask everyone to keep the space clean and tidy after use.
Do I have to be Muslim to attend events?
Not at all. Many of our events are open to everyone. We aim to create a respectful, inclusive space where people can learn, connect, and feel comfortable.
Who can join the Islamic Society?
Everyone is welcome to join the Islamic Society, regardless of religion, background, nationality, or level of knowledge. Whether you’re Muslim, curious about Islam, or just looking for a supportive community, you’re more than welcome.

About Islamic Society

What is the ATU Islamic Society all about and who can join?

The ATU Islamic Society is a welcoming, student-led community that aims to support students spiritually, socially, and emotionally while contributing positively to campus life. The society is centred on faith, friendship, inclusion, and wellbeing, providing a safe and respectful space where students can connect, reflect, and grow during their time at ATU.

We organise a wide range of activities throughout the year, including sisters’ and brothers’ nights, games and trivia nights, cultural and art events, awareness weeks, and charitable initiatives. These events are designed to build strong community bonds, encourage personal development, and help students maintain balance between academic life and wellbeing.

The ATU Islamic Society is open to all ATU students, regardless of religion, background, or level of knowledge about Islam. You do not need to be Muslim to join. Anyone interested in learning about Islamic culture, supporting charitable causes, meeting new people, or being part of a friendly and inclusive community is more than welcome. Our society promotes respect, understanding, and compassion, and aims to create a space where everyone feels valued and supported.
