About Health & Social Care Society

As social care students there has been a lot of changes in our course in aim to reach the requirements needed for CORU registration regulations. Our 4th year students have experienced the most of these changes since they began in ATU. 3rd and 2nd year students have also faced quite a few changes in their studies and as a result of this we believe having a group for our full cohort to have an opportunity to get together and discuss their interests and ideas would be a fantastic addition to our time at ATU.

There has been a lot of interest in this society since I voiced the idea to other students. Most of them agree it would be a fantastic way to get to meet one another from other year groups and get other perspectives from students on placements and coursework while also forming relationships with people they will likely work with later in life.

We have established a committee and made some initial plans to organise weekly gatherings on campus for members, or others who would like to join or get to know about our course that may be considering transferring courses.

We also plan to organise a trip to the Social Care Ireland conference and hope to contribute to the organisation of the Social Care Fair in ATU Donegal on February 27th.

These are only our starting plans but with such an eager interest from other students already, we know that this society will grow to be a brilliant asset to Health and Social Care students at present and in future.
